Assignment 1: Introduce yourself

Hey! Im Karen Biondich and I am in my third year at UAF. My major is Biology with a concentration in Physiology. My plan has always been to go to vet school, but since starting college I have discovered a passion for the human body and how it works, so I have no idea what my future will hold.  I love skiing and Netflix and I rode a horse for the first time this past summer.

A1: Intro posts

Hi! I’m Vanessa Santana and am a senior in Biology and will be going to vet school in the fall. Over the past year here at UAF I have been researching the effect of caffeine on behavior in mice through BLaST.  This course is an important prerequisite for vet school so I am looking forward to it!

Introducing Myself (Assignment 1)

Hello All,

My name is Ariana Casey and I am returning to classes after having graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Biological Science plus a minor in Japanese.   When I finished classes in May last year, I still had no idea what I wanted to do (well, still don’t fully) and it was a really stressful summer trying to find something I felt passionate about.   That’s when I rediscovered Radiological Technology as a possible career path.   I’m back in classes this semester to do Medical Terminology so that I can apply to the Rad Tech Program through a CTC and UAA partnership.   Since I’m back to school, I decided to take Microbiology just in case I go for Med School (not really my thing, but I don’t know if I might change my mind later in life).   To be in full-time student status (and also because I have loved art since my earliest memories), I am also in two art classes -Printmaking plus Color and Design.   Alongside classes, I am also working in the Institute of Arctic Biology as a Lab Safety Assistant and am planning my wedding.

This is me at my friends’ house, posing with their cute dog, Midnight.

A1: Introduction

My name is Bailey Carter and I am a sophomore standing Biology major. I have not declared my concentration, but I am considering changing my major to Wildlife in order to study Ornithology because I love watching and talking about birds. My family does own 16 laying chickens which provide us with both a steady supply of eggs and entertainment (at least for me). I am looking forward to this class especially after the first lab because it was so interesting!

Assignment 1: Introduce Yourself

My name is Kirsten, I was born and raised in Alaska with the exception of moving to the Philippines for two years while in grade school. I am currently a junior pursuing a degree in Biology with a concentration in Physiology and a minor in Business Management and Organization. After I graduate with my undergraduate degree I want to be an orthodontist! I have been working in a dental office and absolutely love it! I am excited to learn about microbes and how they are present in our everyday lives.

Assignment 1: Introduce Yourself

My name is Raelyn Eastwood. I typically go by “RAE” or “EASTWOOD.” I am an Army veteran and my MOS was 68R10 Medical Food Inspection Specialist. I was stationed on NAVSTA Rota, Spain in a unit of 5, with headquarters in Vincenza, Italy. My second duty station was MCAS Miramar in San Diego, CA. While there, I worked on MCAS Miramar, MCRD, Point Loma Sub Base, NAVSTA Coronado, Camp Pendleton, and a few other areas with my HQ out of Fort Irwin, CA.

I am pursuing my Bachelor’s of Science in Biology with a concentration in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and my minor in Wildlife Biology. I currently work as a Pathways Intern for the United States Department of Agriculture, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Soil Science Division as an Ecologist. My spouse and I have one fur baby and are grateful we were able to move back to the great state of Alaska!

Good luck this semester!

Assignment 1: Introduction

Hello. The name’s Rod. I’m majoring in Biological Sciences to pave the way eventually to Medical school. Been dreaming of becoming a doctor ever since I was five. Other than my interests in Medical Science or Science in general, I have a passion for writing. I love stories in general, especially ones that have something to say. I think that even the smallest of microorganisms have something to say, a story to tell. I try to find that in everything I do. Anyway, if you want to be my friend, talk to me about Back to the Future, Breaking Bad, Doctor Who, and/or Stranger Things. I am obsessed with those.

Sunglasses at night. Groan. I know. But it wasn’t me trying to be cool. My right eye at the time was irritated, okay? See, I’m reasonable. Photo taken at Sydney, Australia.
I was an ’80s kid back in 2009. I still am.
